Set up automations

Hisaab can add payments by itself. Each automation is a shortcut on your iPhone that sends a payment or a bank message to your private link. Each one takes about two minutes.

Before you start

You need the Shortcuts app. It comes with your iPhone; if you deleted it, get it again from the App Store.
Your private links are in Hisaab, in Settings › Automations. Open a tile (Apple Wallet, Bank SMS or Webhook) and tap Copy under "Your private link".
Set up Apple Wallet on each person's own iPhone, with their own link, so their payments are recorded as theirs.

Keep your links to yourself: anyone who has one can add entries to your household. If one gets out, tap Reset link in the same tile and paste the new link into your shortcut.

1 · Apple Wallet

Adds every Apple Pay payment the moment you tap your iPhone or Apple Watch.

In Hisaab, go to Settings › Automations › Apple Wallet and tap Copy.
Open Shortcuts, tap the Automation tab, then + and choose Transaction.
Select all your cards and leave all categories on. Choose Run Immediately, turn off Notify When Run, and tap Next.
Tap New Blank Automation, then add the action Get Contents of URL (search for it).
Tap URL and paste your Apple Wallet link.
Tap the arrow to show more options. Set Method to POST and Request Body to JSON.
Tap Add new field › Text. Type amount as the key. For the value, choose Shortcut Input, then tap it and pick Amount.
Add two more Text fields the same way: merchant set to Merchant, and card set to Card or Pass.
Tap Done.

The first payment from a card Hisaab doesn't know yet adds that card to Debt › Cards, marked new, and Home asks you to set it up.

2 · Bank SMS

Reads the texts your bank sends: transfers home, debit card payments, ATM withdrawals, and card payments that didn't go through Apple Wallet.

In Hisaab, go to Settings › Automations › Bank SMS and tap Copy.
In Shortcuts › Automation, tap + and choose Message.
Set Message Contains to AED. For Sender, choose your bank if it's in your contacts (see the note below). Choose Run Immediately, turn off Notify When Run, and tap Next.
Tap New Blank Automation and add Get Contents of URL. Paste your Bank SMS link.
Show more options: Method POST, Request Body JSON.
Add a Text field sender and type your bank's name as the value, for example ENBD.
Add a Text field text and set it to Shortcut Input.
Tap Done. With more than one bank, make one automation per bank, each with its own sender name.

Banks often text from a name, like ENBD, rather than a number, and then they can't be picked as the sender. Leave Sender empty in that case: every message that mentions AED is then sent to Hisaab, and anything that isn't from your bank waits under Checks, where you can ignore it.

In Debt › Cards, give each card its last 4 digits. Then a text about a payment you also made with Apple Pay is matched to the card and held as a possible duplicate, so it isn't counted twice.

What happens to each message:

Transfers home show up in Sent home, with the amount received and the rate.
Card bill payments and moves between your own accounts are skipped: they aren't spending.
A message Hisaab can't read yet waits in Checks. Tap Teach Hisaab once, and messages like it are read from then on.

3 · Webhook

For anything else that can send a web request: a card that isn't in Apple Wallet, a Home Screen shortcut or a Siri phrase. In any shortcut, add Get Contents of URL with your Webhook link, Method POST and Request Body JSON, and these fields. Use Number for amount and Text for the rest.

Field	What to put
`amount`	Required. The amount, for example 86.50.
`merchant`	Required. Where you paid.
`card`	Required. The card's name, for example Wio Credit. A new name adds the card.
`category`	One of your budget categories. Left out, Hisaab picks one.
`paid_by`	Who paid: "You", or the name of anyone in your household. Left out, it's you.
`currency`	AED, or a currency you added in Settings. Converted at your saved rate.
`date`	Date and time, like 2026-09-28T13:20:00+04:00. Left out, it's when it arrives.
`note`	Any text.

Check it works

Make a real payment, or wait for your bank's next text. It shows on Home within a few seconds.
Settings › Automations › Log lists everything that reached Hisaab and what it did with each one. If something is missing there, the shortcut didn't run: check that it's on and set to Run Immediately, and that the whole link was pasted.
The Test buttons in each tile send a sample payment that's saved like a real one. Delete it afterwards.
Wrong category? Change it once, and Hisaab remembers it for that merchant.
